The 40th Anniversary Celebration of the Department of Language and General Academic Training for International Students at the Faculty of Pre - University Education of Al - Farabi Kazakh National University

In December 2025, the Department of Language and General Academic Training for International Students at the Faculty of Pre - University Education of Al - Farabi Kazakh National University celebrated the 40th anniversary of its establishment. Veterans who had worked at the department since its foundation, as well as representatives of the university administration, were invited to the ceremonial event. They warmly congratulated both the retired and the current faculty members. Many kind words and heartfelt wishes were addressed to the department and its teaching staff on this occasion.
During the celebration, the faculty administration delivered congratulatory speeches, highly praising the work of the Department of Language and General Academic Training for International Students. Representatives of the first teaching staff shared their memories, spoke about the early days of the young team, which worked in a unique atmosphere of creativity and enthusiasm for a new mission, as well as about the first achievements and challenges faced by the department. Over time, the department developed into a scientific and methodological center for language training of international students in Kazakhstan.
Current faculty members also addressed the audience, along with students who are presently studying at the faculty and alumni who, despite having graduated, continue to maintain close ties with the department and their beloved teachers. Those who were unable to attend the event in person for various reasons joined the celebration online to express their gratitude to their teachers. Many graduates provide sponsorship support to the department as a sign of respect and appreciation.
The anniversary celebration featured numerous warm and sincere words addressed to the teaching staff. Veterans were presented with flowers, valuable gifts, and certificates of appreciation. The formal event concluded with a concert organized by international students, during which they demonstrated their achievements in learning Russian and Kazakh. Songs and poems were performed in the languages of instruction.
At present, it can be stated with confidence that a scientific and methodological school focusing on the study of second - language acquisition has been established at the department. This is evidenced by numerous doctoral and candidate dissertations, which serve as the scientific and methodological foundation for innovative technologies in foreign language acquisition.
