Open curatorial hour: Immersion in the culture of Kazakhstan

24 October 2024 in KazNU named after Al - Farabi at the Faculty of Pre - University Education held an open curatorial hour dedicated to the Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is celebrated on 25 October. Curators of groups 3, 8 and 13 told about Kazakhstan, its history and cultural heritage. Mentor's hour is one of the main forms of educational work of curators in the study group. For foreign students information curatorial hour is especially important, as it serves to expand their horizons, allows foreign students to join the system of moral values of the host country, the country where they are studying, helps to form a respectful attitude to the cultural values of Kazakhstan, its history and traditions. Curatorial hour gives an opportunity to expand the range of knowledge of students, which are not provided by the curriculum, but are extremely important for the successful adaptation of foreign students in a new environment.
As part of the open curatorial hour, dedicated to the Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan, teachers prepared a fascinating programme, which included informative lectures and colourful video. Students learnt about the rich history of Kazakhstan, its cultural heritage and significant events that influenced the formation of the country. The video attracted the attention of foreigners with its vivid images and fascinating plot, allowing a deeper understanding of how Kazakhstan's identity was formed.
The flag of Kazakhstan became a symbol of unity and pride for all present. International students noted that what they saw and heard during the event helped them to better understand Kazakhstan and its people. International students especially liked the video and the flag of Kazakhstan, which became a bright symbol of unity and independence. Students actively participated in the organised event to form a system of their relationships with the outside world.
The open curatorial hour became not only an educational event, but also a platform for cultural exchange. Students were able to ask questions, share their impressions and learn more about life in Kazakhstan. This event strengthened ties between international students and Kazakhstani society, creating an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding.
In conclusion, the supervisors emphasised the importance of such events in broadening students' horizons and building a positive image of Kazakhstan as a country with a rich heritage and an open heart. This event contributed to strengthening intercultural ties and deepening the knowledge of foreign students about Kazakhstan.
