Now, boys, we are going speak about America. We have been speaking much about this country this year. We learnt about New York, Washington and read the texts about the most popular presidents of the USA. Today we are going speak about the USA Government.

III. Presentation of new theme:
The USA Government
The United States is a parliamentary republic. The Government is divided into 3 branches: legislative (the US Congress), executive (the President and his Administration) and judicial (the US Supreme Court).
There are two main political parties in the USA the Democratic and the Republican. The US president is both head of State and of government. He is elected for a 4 - year term. The Supreme Court consists of Chief Justice and 8 Associate Justices who are appointed for life.
The Supreme Court is supposed to decide whether a law of the Congress or an executive order of the President is "Constitutional or not".

США - парламентская республика, в которой власть разделена на 3 составляющих: законодательную (конгресс США), исполнительную (президент и его администрация) и судебную (Верховный суд США).
В стране существуют 2 основные политические партии: Демократическая и Республиканская. Президент США одновременно выполняет роль и главы государства, и главы правительства. Он избирается на четырехгодичный срок. Верховный суд состоит из Главного судьи и его восьми помощников, все они назначаются на свои посты пожизненно.
Верховный суд должен вынести решение о том, являются ли законы, принимаемые конгрессом, и исполнительные распоряжения президента "конституционными".
