The year 2025 is a jubilee year for our country. On March 1, we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan. It is an institution that "promotes the development and implementation of state policy in the field of social harmony and national unity." This is a unique body, the existence of which became possible only after our country gained independence.
October 25 marks 35 years since Kazakhstan declared itself an independent state. In 1990, the Declaration of State Sovereignty was adopted, which became a key moment in the country's modern history. This day is celebrated as a starting point on the way to building an independent state. Republic Day is the only national holiday of Kazakhstan. Thanks to the adopted Declaration, the country suspended the operation of Soviet laws and began to form its own legal system. Kazakhstan became one of the last republics to secede from the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

By historical standards, the path that the country has traveled since gaining sovereignty is relatively small. However, Kazakhstan has changed significantly during this time. The State's desire to develop a multinational culture, maintain the traditions of every nation living on its territory, and strive to live in harmony with neighboring countries, as well as with the whole world, remains unchanged. These principles have become especially relevant in our difficult time of numerous challenges. The fundamental principles of sovereign statehood are the unity, territorial integrity and inviolability of borders, the revival and development of culture, language and traditions of the Kazakh people, paying attention to the identity of all the peoples of the country, as well as the strengthening of national identity.
Foreign students studying at the Department of Language and General Education Training of Foreigners at Al - Farabi Kazakh National University show genuine interest in the present day and the history of Kazakhstan.

Teachers and advisors of the department provide their students with relevant information in an accessible form, regularly organizing educational events on relevant topics. At one of these events dedicated to Republic Day, foreign students, trained by teachers, actively discussed this important date for the country. They spoke respectfully about the process of Kazakhstan's independence and shared their knowledge with each other. During the event, international students sincerely wished Kazakhstan prosperity and well - being to all its residents, expressing their warm feelings for the country. It should be emphasized that the teachers of the department strive not only to teach Kazakh and Russian languages to foreigners, but also to form a positive image of the country in the international arena, promoting respect for the culture and history of Kazakhstan. Such events reveal the uniqueness of Kazakhstan to listeners from different countries: they contribute to a better understanding of the Kazakh people, their culture and languages. All this is an important element in the successful organization of the educational process.
